How To Get Medical Marijuana in Maryland

How to obtain registration: There is no official registration for medical marijuana in Maryland. Maryland law provides an affirmative defense in court for medical marijuana patients who present evidence of recommendation from their doctor.


How to obtain medicine: There are no mentions of how to obtain marijuana under Marylands laws and no mention of protection for growing or dispensing. It merely states that possesion of under 1 once for medical necessity with a doctors recomendation has a maximum punishment of a $100 fine.

Note: 2011, Senate Bill 308 was recently passed which puts states that persons who are using marijuana for medical purposes have the opportunity to present that without being criminally charged. This takes effect 6/1/2011. A workgroup is being stood up to looking into how to get better medical marijuana legislation in place that provides better access to medecine for patients.
