How To Get Medical Marijuana in Maine

How to obtain registration: You must obtain a recommendation from a doctor stating that patient is likely to receive therapeutic or palliative benefit from the medical use of marijuana to treat or alleviate the patient’s debilitating medical condition. All applications can be found here though recent legislation actually makes reigistering with the state optional. You still must have a doctor’s recommendation though.


How to obtain medicine: You may grown your own, work with a caregiver, or purchase medicine from a non-profit licensed Maine dispensary.


Amount allowed: 1.25 ounces, 6 plants with 3 or less being mature

Note: Maine also recognizes medical marijuana cards and referrals from other states and out of state patients are protected under Maine’s laws, temporarily. If you plan on staying in Maine you must get recommendation in compliance with Maine law.
